Hello! My name is Kristin Baty. I have the privilege to teach your child music every week for a 50 minute class period.
I am a born and raised South Dakota girl who came to Minnesota for college. I graduated from Minnesota State University in 2006 with a dual degree in Music Education and Elementary Education. I completed my Orff Certification from St. Thomas University in 2009.
I started my teaching career in Edina, MN and after 3 years moved back to Mankato with my husband. I have been teaching music at Hoover since 2010 and love it!
When I’m not making music with Hoover students I enjoy singing and dancing with my own 3 kids at home! I also love cooking, baking, eating, traveling, watching movies and the occasional run. In the community I am active with the Mankato Children’s Chorus as the Training and Intermediate Director.
During a typical music class I focus on making music with children through singing, instrument playing, dancing, listening, and story-telling. Each student is involved in one music program (large concert or classroom informance) a year to showcase what we learn.
"Since the beginning of time, children have not liked to study. They would much rather play, and if you have their interests at heart, you will let them learn while they play; they will find that what they have mastered is child's play." -Carl Orff
